“The world is a dangerous place to live in; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.”

Radnóti March 2013

The 5th Radnóti March: remember and remind

Civilians initiated again, for the fourth time, a ~17-kilometre rally on Saturday, the 9th November 2013 in Budapest from Parcel 298 of the cemetery "Új köztemető"(a) to the Danube.
  • in remembrance of the Night of Broken Glass(1) (a.k.a. Reichskristallnacht), a pogrom or series of attacks against Jews throughout Nazi Germany and in parts of Austria on the 9-10 November 1938;
  • on the occasion of the International Day Against Fascism and Antisemitism(2);
  • in remembrance of the Hungarian poet Miklós Radnóti(3), murdered by Hungarian Nazis (Arrow-Crossers (4)) in fall 1944 (5);
  • to draw attention to the scandal of Parcel 298(a);
  • to draw attention to the fact that Hungarians have thrown away democracy in 2010(6)in favour of the omnipotence of the far-right political power Fidesz (cooperating with Jobbik behind the scenes);
  • to draw attention to the fact that Hungary has been breaking her own law including the Paris Peace Treaty(7) for more than 20 years.
A group of civilians will march throughout the whole way. The same rally took place also the last two years, i.e. on the 9th November 2010, 2011 and 2012 while the date of the first rally was 23 October 2009. The first two rallies ended at the Shoes, however later the route was extended to the house where Radnóti lived for a while. Like last year, the marchers will lay a wreath at the Plaque of the poet(d). This year the  route can't include the Shoes because of the restoring the Kossuth square to the condition of the Horthy era.

(5) Although the generally accepted date of Radnóti's execution in Abda is 9 November 1944,(3) this has recently been questioned by Tamás Csapody, a jurist, sociologist, expert in bioethics and behavioural sciences who spent many years with analysing documents of the death march of the inmates of the Bor labour camp. In his book (Csapody Tamás: Bori munkaszolgálatosok. Fejezetek a bori munkaszolgálat történetéből. Csapody argues that the exact date of the execution is, as yet, unknown and it could happen sometimes between early November 1944 and February 1945. Nevertheless we believe that on 9 November, the International Day Against Fascism and Antisemitism it is appropriate to commemorate Milkós Radnóti, a victim of these horrific ideas irrespective of the fact whether this was the day of his death or not.

Radnóti Marsch 2013

2012. november 9.

9th November
International Day against Fascism and Antisemitism
November 9. a Fasizmus és Antiszemitizmus Elleni Küzdelem Nemzetközi Napja.
ResponsAbility(1) - It's in your hands(2)

SOHA TÖBBÉ! 1938. november 9-én kezdődött a “Kristályéjszaka” ("Kristallnacht") nevű pogrom, amelyet ma a Holokauszt, az emberek milliói szisztematikus legyilkolása politikája jelképes kezdetének tekintünk.

A szélsőjobb ma egész földrészünkön emelkedőben lévő erő.

1938. november 9-én a náci Németország pogromot indított a zsidók ellen.

9 November 2012

9th November
International Day against Fascism and Antisemitism
November 9. a Fasizmus és Antiszemitizmus Elleni Küzdelem Nemzetközi Napja.
ResponsAbility - It's in your hands(1)

NEVER AGAIN! 9 November 1938 marked the beginning of the “Kristallnacht” pogrom and it is seen today as the symbolic beginning of the Holocaust, the policy of systematically murdering millions of people. It reminds us that such terrible things did not start with deportations and concentration camps, but developed step by step.

Nazi propaganda and hate speech against Jews and laws depriving Jewish citizens of their rights – as happened with the ‘Nuremberg Laws’ which, among other things, stripped German Jews of their citizenship – were the first steps which eventually culminated in violence and pogroms. We must be aware that history is used to being repeated and the Holocaust happened with the silent acceptance and support of the broad majority. Nowadays, right-wing extremism is a rising force on the entire continent. Hate crimes are frequent realities, extreme right-wing parties are elected into parliaments and xenophobic propaganda is becoming legitimate.

On 9 November 1938, nazi Germany started a pogrom against Jewish people. SA Storm Troopers and civilians destroyed more than 8000 Jewish homes and shops, set synagogues on fire, imprisoned, injured and killed Jews all across the country. Pieces of broken windows covering the streets in many German cities gave rise to the name “Kristallnacht” which freely translated means the Night of Broken Glass.

The “Kristallnacht” pogrom is seen as the start of the systematic eradication of Jewish people which had started with the discrimination and exclusion of the German Jews since 1933 and which eventually led to the murder of approximately 6 million Jewish people and 5,5 million ‘enemies of the German state’: homosexuals, criminals and ‘asocial’ people, members of diverse religious communities, people with mental disabilities, political ‘offenders’ such as communists and socialists, Spanish republican refugees and minorities like Roma and Sinti among others.

Radnóti March 2012

The 4th Radnóti March: remember and remind

Civilians initiated again, for the fourth time, a ~17-kilometre rally on Friday, the 9th November 2012 in Budapest from Parcel 298 of the cemetery "Új köztemető"(a) to the Danube.
  • in remembrance of the Night of Broken Glass(1) (a.k.a. Reichskristallnacht), a pogrom or series of attacks against Jews throughout Nazi Germany and in parts of Austria on the 9-10 November 1938;
  • on the occasion of the International Day Against Fascism and Antisemitism(2);
  • in remembrance of the Hungarian poet Miklós Radnóti(3), murdered by Hungarian Nazis (Arrow-Crossers (4)) in fall 1944 (5);
  • to draw attention to the scandal of Parcel 298(a);
  • to draw attention to the fact that Hungarians have thrown away democracy in 2010(6)in favour of the omnipotence of the far-right political power Fidesz (cooperating with Jobbik behind the scenes);
  • to draw attention to the fact that Hungary has been breaking her own law including the Paris Peace Treaty(7) for more than 20 years.

A group of civilians will march throughout the whole way. The same rally took place also the last two years, i.e. on the 9th November 2010 and 2011 while the date of the first rally was 23 October 2009. The first two rallies ended at the Shoes, however, in 2011, the route was extended to the house where Radnóti lived for a while. Like last year, the marchers will lay a wreath at the Plaque of the poet(d).

Cemetery maps can be found here: http://antifa-hungary.blogspot.com/2010/10/radnoti-march-2009-cemetery-maps.html
The route map with stations is here: http://antifa-hungary.blogspot.hu/2012/10/radnoti-menet-2012-program-es-utvonal.html

Radnóti Menet 2012

A Radnóti Menet megtartását - immár negyedik alkalommal - 2012-ben is szervezik a civilek november 9-ére.
Az alábbiakban összefoglaljuk röviden a Radnóti Menet történetét, célját - az eddigi, fellelhető információink alapján.

Radnóti Menet

A Radnóti Menet küldetése: emlékezés, emlékeztetés, figyelemfelhívás

- a Kis Varsó(3) emléktábla a VIII. kerületi Népszínház utcában
- a Magyar Zsidó Munkaszolgálatosok Emlékműve(4) a VII. kerületi Bethlen Gábor téren
- Koszorús Ferenc(5) emléktáblája a Dohány utcai zsinagógával szemben
Az emlékmenet a Duna partnál záró megemlékezésekkel ér véget a Cipők a Duna-parton(6) nevű emlékműnél, illetve Radnóti Miklós emléktáblájánál a Jászai Mari térnél.

A kristályéjszaka a Holocaust nyitányának tekinthető.

Neo-Nazi with his Jewish Grandmother

Csanad Szegedi, a leader of Hungary’s illegal neo-Nazi parliamentary party Jobbik has a Jewish grandmother.
"Since 2009, Szegedi has belonged to Jobbik-Movement for a Better Hungary (Jobbik), a nationalistic political party denoted by scholars and media outlets as anti-Semitic, anti-Roma, homophobic, and neo-fascist. Szegedi garnered copious media attention three years ago for attending the first session of the European Parliament clothed in the Uniform of Jobbik’s banned paramilitary arm, the Hungarian Guard."(1)

"The campaign to eliminate Jobbik from the Hungarian political arena has shifted into higher gears... Szegedi's grandmother, Magdolna Klein was deported to Auschwitz in June 1944. After returning from the camp, she married to Orthodox Jew, Imre Meisels who died in the '80s. Szegedi's grandmother is still alive."(2)
Barikad.hu, the rude neo-Nazi website (and also the closely related weakly Bar!kád)  of Jobbik published an interview with Szegedi who was explaining at great length that he was a "good Jew".(3)(a)

Merre lő hát a Magyar Antifa Akciócsoport?
